Only one person can print at a time.
Each person must block the device.
Device failed many times to get connected to Wifi router.
Only works with Windows not other operating systems.

I bought the HP Wireless G USB print server to connect my old HP 3200 multifunction printer -- which I use mainly for simple b&w printing -- to a three-computer home network.
I expected that I was buying a regular print server (and was looking forward to it working flawlessly, being from HP). By "print server" I mean a piece of hardware containing the software needed to receive print jobs from the different computers, store them in memory, and send them to the printer to print.
That's NOT what this is! Yes, there's a piece of hardwear that you connect to your printer -- but all the software resides on the computers, and that software has to communicate with the other computers before a job will print.
In my case, this arrangement doesn't work right. Once one computer has printed, the server locks out all other computers, and the only way to print from any other computer is to unplug/reboot the server itself. Most of the time, in fact, once you've printed a doc -- or simply if enough time has gone by -- you have to reboot the server to print another job even from the same computer. So when I want to print, I reach under my desk, unplug the server, replug the server, wait, then hit print. When my wife (downstairs) wants to print, she yells up, "unplug the server!" and I do so.
I've troubleshot, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. and it's always the same. It seems like most reviewers here love this server; good for them. But The Google reveals that some fraction of people have this problem. IMHO, this is the worst piece of junk I've ever bought for my computer -- I won't even injure someone else by trying to sell it on eBay, but will just throw it away. HP should be embarrassed that this is the only printer server they sell nowadays. Don't buy it.

This will not connect to my network. It goes through the whole setup and it says it cannot connect to the network. I tried it again later after a reboot. Now windows XP says it doesn't recognize the USB device. I have 4 computers hooked up to a wireless network. I would rather buy 4 printers then deal with this crap. HP seems to be heading downhill. I have had serious issues with a new HP laptop. Of course it is not just HP. I think it's the combination of HP and Microsoft Windows. I went the server route because windows wouldn't allow me to share a printer (4 computers all XP). After reading several articles on how to fix this, it still wouldn't work. Through the server in the garbage yesterday, right where it belongs.

The HP 2101nw Wireless G Print Server is probably good for older printers, but mine is brand new and I suspect the print drivers have not been fully tested. The printer worked fine when wired directly (no wireless). During the wireless days, I spent over 10 hours trying to get this installed properly, I ran into connecticty issues, drop connections, software toolbox issues and print queues not clearing. Tool box software would work for a while, then locked up the sysem--- I had to reboot numerous times if not over 4-5 in one day.
I used to have a NetGear wireless print server, but it doesn't support this color laserjet CP1215 (another disappointment), but that one worked about 90% of the time. Wireless print servers have strange glitches and I believe the technology is not the best due to the wireless network routers having a higher priority for testing and research versus the wirelss print servers that sell less.
HP Support was very good and realized a problem with my current UBS wired print port, they had me doing a million things that didn't work that the installation should of resolved (this happen to me years ago wth NetGear too).
Pros: Small unit, 3x4 inches
Works without a wireless router, can connect with wireless card in PC only.
Installation is streamline (if no surprises).
Cons: No Windows 7 support
Constant blinking light when printer is off
No direct logging into server like a NetGear or linksys for advance settings.
Installation could be a problem on some systems printer/port settings.
I would look elsewhere and fine a professional grade network wireless print server that of course supports your printer and/or operating a system (Windows 7 not supported). Also, when thinking wirless printing, future printer replacement may present a challenge for this unit (as well other brands) or may not be supported as this model may be replaced in the future.
In the meantime, I'm going back to hard wire USB cable via underneath the carpeting. Just will make life easier and in the future.
